The Good News of Jesus Christ
IAM exists first and foremost to proclaim and explain the good news of Jesus Christ (John 3:16), the greatest truth in the world.
Why the gospel is the greatest truth? Because Jesus Christ accomplished these great things through his life, death and resurrection:
This is the truth nonbelievers most need to hear and the one believers most need to be reminded of. The curated and original content presented here is designed to point to Christ and the gospel.
The Good News of Jesus Christ is more than just the good news of the amazing things he has done for those who will put their trust in him. In a deeper sense, Jesus Christ himself is the good news. God has come to us in Christ and he is so much better than anyone or anything in the created world; he is so much better than we could ever have imagined. Consider his kind invitation to all who will come:
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30)
God has come to us not as a judge but as the Good Shepherd. Come to him by faith, and you will find rest.
Carrying Out Christ’s Commission in the Way Christ Envisions
Secondly, since the gospel is the greatest truth in the world, IAM also exists to call, encourage and equip followers of Christ to make this great good news known by helping to carry out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) We want to encourage every follower of Christ to pour his or her life into advancing God’s kingdom in the way Jesus envisions, as part of the Body of Christ (John 13-17) Specifically we want to encourage believers to be his witnesses in the unity Christ prayed for (John 17:20-23) This approach to carrying out the Great Commission as the Body of Christ is called the John 17 model of missions. It’s what Jesus himself prayed for and envisions for his followers.
