c. True Religion: Fanaticism or Passion?

Have you, like Saul, ever been zealous for God, but never known him? Have you ever sinned and failed even as you attempted to serve God because your heart was not right with God? I have been like that and I and sinned and failed in my heart even as I attempted to serve God sincerely, but blind to my sin. But to my amazement, I have found God to be so much better than I ever imagined. Even though I am sinful, weak and unworthy, his goodness, compassion and grace are greater. And he has given me his grace in and thorough Isa al-Maseeh. If you have these tendencies too, do not despair. God is so good, and he will not quench a flickering flame or break a broken reed. You must simply come to him on his terms rather than your own or anyone else's. That is you must come to him on the merits of Isa's perfect righteousness and his sacrifice for our sins, not on the basis of any supposed self-righteousness. Come to him through repentant faith in Isa al-Maseeh alone. Isa graciously invites those who would come to him in repentance and faith:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew [Injil] 11:28-30).

Isa invites you to come to him, and to enter the Kingdom of God. It is in him you can find forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God and escape from the wrath to come. Here you can find grace and freedom instead of the bondage of mere religion. In him you can come to know the truth about yourself and about God, and be forgiven and transformed just as Paul was. Here you can the joy of true islam and passion for God. In him you will find the peace that passes understanding in this world, and the assurance of heaven in the world to come. May Almighty God bless you as you seek him.
